Our thoughts;
The GTI badge is known more for sporty Golfs but the iconic 3 letters have been on hot Polo’s for over 2 decades now with the latest one that we have here is the most powerful yet. Powered by a slightly de-tuned Golf GTI engine the Polo packs a healthy 204bhp through it’s 7 speed DSG gearbox meaning 62mph is taken care of in 6.5 seconds and top speed is a licence losing 149mph.

The modern Hot Hatch market is very competitive now, it’s hard to find a bad one but they all have certain things about them that make them stand out. For me the Polo is more sensible and not quite as aggressive as the ST-3 but yet can still hold it’s own in the corners and out pipping them in a straight line (thanks to the insanely fast gear change). Inside the Polo wins hands down, don’t get me wrong the ST-3 infotainment system is fantastic but the Germans have worked magic with the virtual cockpit! Going for a spirited drive? Take the ST3, taking the partner out for dinner and want to have some fun on route? take the Polo GTI.
